in fact, i just finished a quick little hat in one of my favorite colors of green. i think i finished this thing in just over a day! that’s some serious instant gratification. i highly recommend this pattern, too. the designer’s patterns are always well written and cute. i’ve knit two of these and one other hat of hers and i have another one in the queue.
the color, while gorgeous, is making me look a little blah in the face. it really brings out the huge bags under my eyes! not very flattering but i’ll still wear it a lot this winter.

view from the front really making me puffy and my cheeks uber rosy. ;)

the back view while it’s being worn slightly back on the head for a floppier look.

go knit it. i’ve also finished a couple of other knitted items in the last few weeks that i’ll blog about with along with the sewn and embroidered items. i think i’m the only person that isn’t feeling the hustle and bustle of the holidaze. we don’t really do christmas in my family so i’m not worried about gifts. i’m usually much more excited to put up my lights and decorations and drink hot cocoa. not sure why i’m not feeling it this year. how about y’all?? feeling the holiday spirit? any big presents on the needles?

it’s actually been summer in texas since about mid march. we’re already in the triple digits! in spite of this, i’ve been knitting almost non stop. i’m not sure there’s any logic in it but i will have a mountain of hats, scarves and mitts if it ever gets cold enough to wear them.
i’ve been especially enjoying knitting hats. i love them! they’re quick, functional and you can usually get one out of a skein of yarn so they’re the perfect stash buster. it also gives me a reason to start testing out all the new yarns i’m getting in. here are a few of the things i’ve finished in the last month. i’ve got a back log so bear with me.

yarn-funky carolina superwash merino/cashmere/nylon
worsted weight
needle sizes-10.5 and 9
mods-i blocked it over a plate to shape as a beret
this was the first pattern i’ve knit with my new base yarn and i couldn’t be happier! i held the yarn doubled to knit the bulky version of the pattern and i had yarn to spare. at 185 yards per skein, there’s plenty to make a small project. i’m really in love with the color too. it’s a soft minty blue and i think it goes with my skin and hair well. now i know why this is such a popular pattern and i’ve already got some handspun ideas in mind.
i hope you’re all having a wonderful start to your summer with many family activities and fun outtings planned! i’ll be back soon to show the rest of the goodies i’ve made.
